Breathe Yourself Better was formed by Jacqueline Craig in 2025, following six years of working with groups of people with chronic lung deficiencies and Long Covid. Jacqueline trained as a Singing for Lung Health Leader in 2018 and refreshed her training in 2021, incorporating new techniques responding to the latest evidence of effective treatments and therapeutic approaches to Long Covid symptoms.
She co-designed and delivered a highly successful Long Covid programme to groups of patients across four NHS trusts in the UK through her work with Shared Harmonies, and delivered weekly sessions to groups of people with long-term respiratory conditions including COPD, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer and asthma.
Breathe Yourself Better builds on this initial concept of Singing for Lung Health, established by the British Lung Foundation (now Asthma + Lung UK), and its training provided by Phoene Cave of The Musical Breath, by offering a variety of breathwork techniques to suit each individual’s unique needs. Further training has been undertaken through Physiotherapy for Breathing Pattern Disorders, Janice Chapman and James Platt via Classical Voice Training and Frankie Armstrong and Darien Pritchard via Natural Voice Network. Adding breathwork concepts from a variety of sources results in a streamlined and time-effective way to benefit from positive outcomes.
The results have been astounding: In addition to participants’ improvements in overall wellbeing, reports have consistently shown reduced inhaler use, less trips to GPs and fewer hospital admissions.
Those whose lives were previously adversely affected by their breathlessness symptoms have been able to once again enjoy a quality of life which they had thought was beyond their reach.
